Heritage Day

 Charles was in charge of a big event held in Yucaipa. The planning took almost a year, but it turned out really well.

 This is a man who is a leader in a native American tribe, who is also running for state assembly. He did some native American music for entertainment.

 A local rabbi made a presentation, including the story of how the first Torah came to the area with a Jewish man who traveled in a Mormon wagon train.

 This is the mayor of San Benardino, talking to Charles. He is a member of the church. The mayor of Yucaipa is also a member, and a descendant of Amasa Lyman, who was the first mayor of San Bernardino.  Charles is a descendant of the second mayor, Charles C. Rich, so it was interesting to have them both represented in that way.

Mother's Day

We enjoyed having Katy's family over for Mother's Day!

The Grand Canyon

We made a quick trip to AZ to visit Carly's family and go to the Grand Canyon with them. We left home Thursday afternoon, and came back Sunday afternoon, but we did a lot in a short time. 

Their dog, Gunner, is really cute, and likes to be held like a baby!

We spent the first night in Flagstaff so we could get a good start on the Grand Canyon the next day. We went to the Lava River Cave, which was pretty interesting, but a little rocky getting down into it. We forgot flashlights, so just had some cheap ones we got at Walmart, but it worked!

Audra and Bella really enjoyed the heated pool at their hotel.

We took a short hike to a scenic spot, and saw deer on the way. When we got there, there was a picnic spot with tables, etc. where a wedding was being set up. Apparently, a lot of people want to get married there.
