Easter

Carly and the kids came for about ten days during spring break, and since they like the beach so much, we spent a night at one of my favorite places, Laguna Beach. The weather was warm and it was a lot of fun. Due to a problem with our room at the hotel across the street, we were upgraded to their best room, which was much bigger and had a window with an ocean view.

Evan at our favorite picture taking spot.
Rich joined his family Wednesday night, and since Charles had Friday off, we went to Newport Beach.
The Ellsworths and the Fifes were with us for Easter Sunday.

The girls love to paint when they come over.

 Beautiful sisters.
We didn't get to be with Jake's family, but we did get a picture of Jacob and Lexi and the cats.
We got this sweet picture from Joey with Scarlett in her Easter dress.

Abby sent Easter pictures as well.

Here's Jesse in Japan for his spring break.
Carly got to see Veronica and Laina. Veronica is having a baby, so  Becky gave her a shower. Carly hadn't seen her in decades!
And her mom, Becky, and I have renewed our friendship.

Morro Bay Getaway

We had a great time on our five day getaway to Morro Bay.
Taking our bikes was a great idea, because there were trails with views of the ocean and the weather was perfect for riding.

This is Morro Rock, which was visible from just about everywhere around, but very near where we stayed.

We took a trip up the coast to San Simeon to visit the Hearst Castle. My family stopped by to take a tour on our way home from being sealed in the Los Angeles Temple when I was seven years old. It made a huge impression on me, since I had never seen anything like it. So I wanted to see it again.

While it's still very impressive, I've seen a lot of amazing places by now, so it wasn't as great as it was the first time!

The indoor pool is what amazed me the most, as a child, and it's still very beautiful!
We went on a hike along some cliffs where was had an amazing view.

SCARLETT MARIE RICH

Here's beautiful little Scarlett Marie Rich, born January 13, 2016.

Jackson and Daniel were very excited to got o the hospital and meet their baby sister.

Daniel wanted to hold her close and hug her! He was ecstatic!

A very happy Dad.

Daniel and Jackson were very interested to see that she had a real little body!

Jackson held her tenderly and talked to her about life and what he knows about it.

 They reluctantly had to leave.

 Aunt Abby

Scarlett, like Jackson, had jaundice, so had to go get her blood checked every morning for the first several days. After a couple of days it was determined that she needed to be on the lights at home. She was pretty patient about it, but would have much preferred sleeping in a nice bed with soft blankets. Thankfully, this didn't last many days.
 Joey with his dog/child, Annie.

Even though it was cold, Jackson, Annie, Daniel and I went for walks. Jackson actually rode his scooter and Daniel was bundled up in the stroller.

One day, Jackson and I spent a long time out by the ditch/creek, where he threw rocks and whacked weeds with a stick. He just likes to be outside!
Annie would chase a ball for as long as we were willing to throw it.

Katie made an appointment for us to go to the Provo City Center Temple Open House. It is beautiful inside, with lots of fine woodwork in a style similar to the original tabernacle.

One morning, the boys and I went up to Thanksgiving Point to the Curiosity Museum. They loved it.

Abby and Kevin went with me and Jackson to the Bean Museum.

Since Daniel didn't get to go with us the first time, I took him to the museum by himself and he really enjoyed getting to so whatever he wanted to do.

What he liked to do the most was go on this slide, so he just kept going up and down for as long as he wanted to.
