I went to Rhode Island for Sarita's graduation from RISD, where she got a two year continuing education certificate in Children's Book Illustrating. She's worked really hard and excelled in her field, and her first book is close to ready to turn into a publisher. She is an amazing artist and writer.
I was pretty excited to get this news too!
Sarita with a couple of friends who shes had classes with.
There were only four graduates in Saritas area, but sixty, including the other courses.
This is one of Sarita's friends who commuted two hours each way from Connecticut and took five or six years to complete the course.
One of the teachers extolling Sarita's talents and commitment.
We went out to eat afterward, and this is Jesse and Sarita's appetizer octupus and other seafood delicacies.
For a little day trip the following day, went to Sakonnet Point in Little Compton. It's a beautiful beach, not too far from where they live, but a fair distance when you drive all the way around to the other side of Narragansett Bay. Part of it was covered with smooth rocks, including flat pieces of shale, so it was a perfect time to teach Sarita to skip rocks!
We also made a "moss cow." However, it looked a lot like a donkey!

We stopped by the Little Compton Commons Cemetery, where the first white woman born in New England is buried.
Jesse's powerful lens got a good picture of the lighthouse in the background.
Jesse's rock sculpture.
This is the Rhode Island Red Monument in Little Compton, RI. It's in the National Register of Historic Places. And since it's a chicken, and we like chickens, we had to see it! Little Compton is the birthplace of the Rhode Island Red.
We should have seen this before making the moss cow.
They had some wonderful ice cream here!
Sarita was helping with a baby shower for a friend, and made this diaper cake as a centerpiece. She happened to have this great rubber chicken that was perfect for the cake top!
Jesse in my dad's old leather chair, dog-sitting for a friend. The dog looks a lot like Gina or Ruby, my mom's dog.
Sarita and I went for pedicures my last night there.
This is a lake a short distance from where Jesse and Sarita live. They're also just a block or so from the library, which cuts through a pretty area.
Some of Jesse's photography. He's really good!

Thanks for sharing. Sarita's friend Marcela actually lives in New Haven so we'll be close to her.
What a cute baby bump! I'm excited for Daniel to have another cousin close in age.
Beautiful pictures! What a fun trip. Congrats to Sarita for all of her hard work earning her certificate! We can't wait for her book to get published! And she is looking great with her little bump. Looking forward to meeting the newest little "Rich" baby!
Thanks for visiting! And thanks everyone for liking the bump :)
