FORTIETH ANNIVERSARY EUROPE TRIP

Our first airbnb in Barcelona was a boat. It was advertised as a yacht, but it was really a boat!

We went to church in Rome before heading to Marseille. The church building is on the grounds with the temple
This is Port Vieux in Marseille, very close to where we stayed.

The kitchen. The place was very small, but nicely remodeled. However, it was a bit of a seedy street. While waiting to be let in, we saw two rats run across the alley into the abandoned courtyard outside our kitchen window (below). Also, the woman who was coming to let us in had her cell phone snatched out of her hands on the way over. We were pretty careful after that!

Church in Milan. We met the Gales, who are there on a humanitarian mission. She is the sister of a friend in our stake, and they are from San Clemente. This was the English speaking Sunday School Class.

Lucerne, Switzerland

We loved Switzerland. We stayed in Lucerne, but rode on a train all the way from Milan and then on to Germany, so we saw a lot of it. It's very beautiful!

Our living room in Lucerne.  We were upgraded to an apartment because our studio didn't have working internet.

Nuremburg

This is the view we had from our window. The city was really pretty.

We had quite a time getting from Marseille to Barcelona for our return flight. First, our train was canceled due to floods, then our bus let us all out part way there because of protesters in Spain blocking the highways. We worked together with these young people to find our way back to Marseill where we flew to Barcelona. We went in on a car rental with the couple on our right, Kenny and Lisa.
